Dion Dung-Shiu Yu (余東栩)

Dion Dung-Shiu Yu is a feminist sociologist from Taiwan. Dion uses all pronouns while preferring they/them to indicate the plurality of selves. Dion is pursuing a master’s degree in sociology at National Taiwan University (NTU). Currently, Dion is a visiting graduate student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison (from Fall 2025 to Spring 2026). Their diverse academic interests led them to earn bachelor’s degrees in sociology (with honors) and anthropology from National Taiwan University. Besides, Dion obtains certificates from the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at NTU and certificates in social research expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methods issued by the Taiwanese Sociological Association.

Dion has dedicated their life to writing for feminism and democracy. Dion is currently a columnist for La-Tai-Mei Gender Talks (辣台妹聊性別). You could see their works from the writing section of this website. As an activist, Dion co-founded Student Alliance for Gender Equality (SAGE, 性別平等學生倡議連線) with their friends in 2025 and founded a democratic watch for their community (七星燃眉立委觀測站) in 2025. Besides academic life, Dion organizes public events focused on gender equality education and local civil society engagement.
